It's getting a little warmer!

We've had a few nice days the past couple weeks. It's actually reached the mid 50's!!!! That's warm to us. In fact Garrett kept telling me, "Oh mom it's warm outside!" So we started off a nice warm day learning to water color. Garrett loved every moment of it. His favorite color is green can you tell? After we water colored for a few hours we enjoyed a nice green Popsicle outside in the sunshine. I didn't realize how cold it looks outside until after we took these pictures. You'd think we were crazy sitting outside with the snow all around us eating a popsicle but as Garrett says It's WARM!

Mexico!

My dear friend Candace just informed me that she is taking an amazing trip to Cancun. Not only are they staying at an all inclusive resort but they got a steal on the the whole trip. So of course I'm a little jealous of the fact that she'll be lounging on the beach and soaking up the sun. But as promised I'm posting a few pictures of our recent trip to Mexico to get her excited. Just ignore the fact that I look awful. I was feeling a little pregnant but good news I'm feeling a little better. Now if we could just kick these colds we'd be great! So enjoy the pics and feel free to be jealous of the amazing ruins and beautiful sites we saw.

We saw some amazing waterfalls down south just outside of Palenque. The road up through the mountains made everybody sick but the falls were amazing and so worth it.

These are another set of falls a few miles further up the mountain. A beautiful view from the top and bottum. Unlike in the U.S. they don't have any guard rails or stairs or bridges for that matter. People were basically climbing everywhere to take pictures. Lorin, my father-in-law, liked to remind us that in Mexico you have to use common sense.

Thayne, Jennifer, Grant an dI riding the rails while touring a Hacienda (plantation) where henica was and produced

I can't post about our trip to Mexico without a picture of mangos. You can tell in the picture these mangoes are cut all fancy. Some are sprinkled with chili powder. Grant lived off mangos while on his mission in Mexico so he made up for lost time while we were there and tried to eat as many as he could.

The last three pictures are of the beautiful ruins in Palenque. They are amazing and the history was fascinating. Right as we were done with our tour is poured. It was my first time experience a true jungle downpour. The best part was that, I being the wife of a frugal man, decided we should ask the hotel for some garbage bags to use in case of rain. I knew they would come in handy. I wish I had a picture I'll have to steal one from my mother-in-law. Just imagine 5 Americans walking around in huge black garbage bags. It was awesome! P.S. I have to give Grant credit for the picture above. He had to climb all the way to the top of this ruin to get this picture.

We took many more pictures and saw such wonderful sites. We had a great time but we'd plan better next time and go when I'm not pregnant.

Alive and Pregnant!

I know it's been forever since I've posted anything. I do have a good excuse. I'm pregnant!!! As you can tell from the picture below. I'm about 14 weeks and have been very sick. So for the past two months with the exception of an amazing Mexico trip(I'll post about that soon) we've been sitting at home just trying to make it. Grant thought for sure we were having twin girls since I wasn't sick at all with Garrett but were just having one and it will be interesting to see if it's a boy or girl. So that's our life and we're hoping things will be back to normal here in about a week and then I might even post some pictures of our AMAZING Garrett who is growing so fast! He tells me often these days that I'm amazing. When I tell him he's amazing he says no mom, I'm Garrett! So we are alive and doing great and so happy for a new addition to our family! We'll keep you updated.

Alright I just had to add this picture of Garrett just to prove how amazing he is. And yes that is Desitin.

Grateful for just a broken arm!

We've had an eventful past two weeks. Last Wednesday Garrett fell off the couch and broke his elbow in two places and had to have surgery to get a couple pins put in. It was quite the traumatic incident. I think it was harder on me than Garrett. He hated the hospital but as soon as we left he was pretty happy. He's been so good about it. So it's been crazy but we are surviving and I feel blessed that it's only a broken arm, we can deal with a broken arm.

Our little guy coming out of surgery still out of it.
Keep in mind I hadn't showered that morning since I was planning to clean the house and we left for the hospital so fast I didn't even have socks on!
Drinking water. Poor little boy was so thirsty. Here's a more recent picture. You can tell how huge his cast is. He has to wear huge clothes that his arm can fit in.

So a week after this incident we loaded up and headed to Boise for Thanksgiving. We started off the day with a sweet Turkey Bowl game. The Gray team won of course!! It was so much fun and then my wonderful brothers cooked the most delicious Thanksgiving Dinner. Yeah for Talented chefs! It was so much fun and Garrett loved being at Grandma's house and playing with cousin Kiley! Oh we are so grateful for loving family and for our cute little one armed boy!

We all made shirts this year! Look how short I am. What has happened. Katie and Kelsey are sure growing up.

The winning gray team! I was trying to look tough but that didn't happen.

The Thanksgiving spread! My favorite part of this picture is all the dishes in the background. I should have taken a total of how many loads of dishes my amazing mother did.

See those green beans they were one of the best part. They were petite greens beans with bacon and an Alfredo sauce. A-mazing! When the Hanson family cooks we really cook. Garrett and Kiley hanging out while we played the football game. Thanks mom for being such a wonderful Grandma!

Stuck!!!

Garrett has been doing the funniest things lately. The other night he was running around in just a diaper and got caught on the china cabinet. Oh it was so funny. He just kept yelling, stuck Garrett stuck. So Alesa and I started taking pictures. Poor kid he was stuck there for awhile while we got a few pictures and some good laughs and then we unhooked him. Then a few nights later he came downstairs to me with his arms out of his shirt totally stuck. I again laughed and grabbed my camera. Oh boys are so much fun! Oh, and at about 9 the other morning Garrett decided he was a little hungry so he pulled out the icecream from the freezer and sat down and starting eating it with his fingers right in the middle of the family room. I grabbed him a spoon before I grabbed my camera. Nothing like a little early morning snack. Oh how we love him!

Halloween Fun!

I know I'm a little late on the Halloween post but I had to post pictures of the fun we had. Garrett was finally old enough to trick or treat and enjoy dressing up. This year he was a monkey!

At the beginning of the week we carved pumpkins. Garrett loved helping and pointing out which pumpkin was his.

Then Thursday morning we went to story time and listened to some books and made a spider and colored and ate good food. Dad even took his lunch hour and met us there.

Garrett throwing his spider at Dad.

Then Thursday night we hit up the Driggs Elementary School carnival. Garrett went to the duck pond fishing pond and even won a cupcake at the cake walk.

On Friday night we went to the ward trunk-or-treat. Garrett ate so much candy. His favorites were the sucks and smarties. He wouldn't even touch the good stuff like snickers.Last but not least we hit a couple of homes including Garrett's nursery leader, great grandparents, and cousins.

He's getting so old. What a fun holiday!

Haircut

Aunt Alesa cut Garrett's hair awhile ago. Here are pictures from the big event. Actually his hair grows so fast we have to cut it often. We've found the key is a sucker and a tractor fruit snack after the event. I have to admit I love his long hair as seen on my last post but when the back gets long enough to put in a pony tail it's time for a haircut.

What a cute little boy!
