Mexico!

My dear friend Candace just informed me that she is taking an amazing trip to Cancun. Not only are they staying at an all inclusive resort but they got a steal on the the whole trip. So of course I'm a little jealous of the fact that she'll be lounging on the beach and soaking up the sun. But as promised I'm posting a few pictures of our recent trip to Mexico to get her excited. Just ignore the fact that I look awful. I was feeling a little pregnant but good news I'm feeling a little better. Now if we could just kick these colds we'd be great! So enjoy the pics and feel free to be jealous of the amazing ruins and beautiful sites we saw.

We saw some amazing waterfalls down south just outside of Palenque. The road up through the mountains made everybody sick but the falls were amazing and so worth it.

These are another set of falls a few miles further up the mountain. A beautiful view from the top and bottum. Unlike in the U.S. they don't have any guard rails or stairs or bridges for that matter. People were basically climbing everywhere to take pictures. Lorin, my father-in-law, liked to remind us that in Mexico you have to use common sense.

Thayne, Jennifer, Grant an dI riding the rails while touring a Hacienda (plantation) where henica was and produced

I can't post about our trip to Mexico without a picture of mangos. You can tell in the picture these mangoes are cut all fancy. Some are sprinkled with chili powder. Grant lived off mangos while on his mission in Mexico so he made up for lost time while we were there and tried to eat as many as he could.

The last three pictures are of the beautiful ruins in Palenque. They are amazing and the history was fascinating. Right as we were done with our tour is poured. It was my first time experience a true jungle downpour. The best part was that, I being the wife of a frugal man, decided we should ask the hotel for some garbage bags to use in case of rain. I knew they would come in handy. I wish I had a picture I'll have to steal one from my mother-in-law. Just imagine 5 Americans walking around in huge black garbage bags. It was awesome! P.S. I have to give Grant credit for the picture above. He had to climb all the way to the top of this ruin to get this picture.

We took many more pictures and saw such wonderful sites. We had a great time but we'd plan better next time and go when I'm not pregnant.

What a fun trip! It looks gorgeous there and you look fabulous especially for not feeling well! I'm jealous you got to go to Grant's mission! With the way Venezuela's government is, the country is getting more and more dangerous and I don't know if we'll ever get to visit Tyson's mission! Can't wait to see you soon in Boise!

Awesome pictures, Tiff. The Falls look amazing. I've never seen ruins, so thanks for posting pictures. LOL--I LOVED your story of the garbage bags. Way too funny. Probably not terribly amusing during the downpour though! Looks like you had a good trip. Have you talked to Grant about coming to Cancun with us? You know we'd love to have you guys join us! We wouldn't have any kids...we could play cards all night!! Forget the beach. And who needs sunbathing when you have the Wilsons and a deck of cards!

I'm so glad you've now seen our wonderful Merida and surrounding sites! I heard David Archiletta was doing a concert down there, and being the huge fan that you are, I'm sure you'll be on the next plane to see him :) Just kidding!

How fun and yes I am jealous. I guess there's no perfect trip for here on out: if you're not pregnant, your probably breast feeding, or worse potty training...... Congratulations on the pregnancy!!! Let us know what you're having.

I am so jealous!! Maybe one of these days my family will go on a REAL vacation. Ray doesn't like travel, imagine that. We missed you at dinner a few weeks ago. We need to play another one just to get together!!
