Grateful for just a broken arm!

We've had an eventful past two weeks. Last Wednesday Garrett fell off the couch and broke his elbow in two places and had to have surgery to get a couple pins put in. It was quite the traumatic incident. I think it was harder on me than Garrett. He hated the hospital but as soon as we left he was pretty happy. He's been so good about it. So it's been crazy but we are surviving and I feel blessed that it's only a broken arm, we can deal with a broken arm.

Our little guy coming out of surgery still out of it.
Keep in mind I hadn't showered that morning since I was planning to clean the house and we left for the hospital so fast I didn't even have socks on!
Drinking water. Poor little boy was so thirsty. Here's a more recent picture. You can tell how huge his cast is. He has to wear huge clothes that his arm can fit in.

So a week after this incident we loaded up and headed to Boise for Thanksgiving. We started off the day with a sweet Turkey Bowl game. The Gray team won of course!! It was so much fun and then my wonderful brothers cooked the most delicious Thanksgiving Dinner. Yeah for Talented chefs! It was so much fun and Garrett loved being at Grandma's house and playing with cousin Kiley! Oh we are so grateful for loving family and for our cute little one armed boy!

We all made shirts this year! Look how short I am. What has happened. Katie and Kelsey are sure growing up.

The winning gray team! I was trying to look tough but that didn't happen.

The Thanksgiving spread! My favorite part of this picture is all the dishes in the background. I should have taken a total of how many loads of dishes my amazing mother did.

See those green beans they were one of the best part. They were petite greens beans with bacon and an Alfredo sauce. A-mazing! When the Hanson family cooks we really cook. Garrett and Kiley hanging out while we played the football game. Thanks mom for being such a wonderful Grandma!

Stuck!!!

Garrett has been doing the funniest things lately. The other night he was running around in just a diaper and got caught on the china cabinet. Oh it was so funny. He just kept yelling, stuck Garrett stuck. So Alesa and I started taking pictures. Poor kid he was stuck there for awhile while we got a few pictures and some good laughs and then we unhooked him. Then a few nights later he came downstairs to me with his arms out of his shirt totally stuck. I again laughed and grabbed my camera. Oh boys are so much fun! Oh, and at about 9 the other morning Garrett decided he was a little hungry so he pulled out the icecream from the freezer and sat down and starting eating it with his fingers right in the middle of the family room. I grabbed him a spoon before I grabbed my camera. Nothing like a little early morning snack. Oh how we love him!

Halloween Fun!

I know I'm a little late on the Halloween post but I had to post pictures of the fun we had. Garrett was finally old enough to trick or treat and enjoy dressing up. This year he was a monkey!

At the beginning of the week we carved pumpkins. Garrett loved helping and pointing out which pumpkin was his.

Then Thursday morning we went to story time and listened to some books and made a spider and colored and ate good food. Dad even took his lunch hour and met us there.

Garrett throwing his spider at Dad.

Then Thursday night we hit up the Driggs Elementary School carnival. Garrett went to the duck pond fishing pond and even won a cupcake at the cake walk.

On Friday night we went to the ward trunk-or-treat. Garrett ate so much candy. His favorites were the sucks and smarties. He wouldn't even touch the good stuff like snickers.Last but not least we hit a couple of homes including Garrett's nursery leader, great grandparents, and cousins.

He's getting so old. What a fun holiday!

Haircut

Aunt Alesa cut Garrett's hair awhile ago. Here are pictures from the big event. Actually his hair grows so fast we have to cut it often. We've found the key is a sucker and a tractor fruit snack after the event. I have to admit I love his long hair as seen on my last post but when the back gets long enough to put in a pony tail it's time for a haircut.

What a cute little boy!

Skater Boy

I just had to post this cute picture of my little skater boy. Look at those wings! We had just gone to a baptism before going to pick our pumpkins out at Albertsons which explains his super cute church outfit. (Thanks Grandma Brenda) When we go to Rexburg we have to do as much as we can in one day!Oh I hope our little girls have as much hair as Garrett does.

Canning

On top of all the raspberries my wonderful mother in law taught me how to can. Using apples from her apple trees we canned over 60 jars of applesauce and apple pie filling, and I don't have a single picture to show for it. It was a lot of work and a lot of mess but so much fun and a good skill to learn. We also we lucky enough to get pears from Merissa's trees in Utah and canned 24 jars of pears! Yum Yum!

Sorry the window is a little bright. My wonderful mother-in-law Liza
The finished product! Well most of it.

Raspberries!!!!!!

Well now that summer is officially over and the snow is falling I thought I'd recap on some of our summer activities. Garrett and I and occasionally Grant picked gallons and gallons of raspberries from my mother in law's raspberry patch. At the beginning of the year Garrett was such a good helper although he usually ate faster than I could pick. Eventually he got bored of picking raspberries and would watch the tractors in the fields behind. So what did we do with all the raspberries you ask? Well I've made a couple batches of raspberry jam, frozen gallons for future use and made special deliveries to my family in Boise. We love raspberries!
Ummm!
Sneaking a few from Mom's bucket
Thanks Aunt Alesa for taking the pictures. Of all those days picking raspberries you would think I would have taken pictures once.

Garrett is two!

Last weekend we celebrated Garrett's second birthday in Boise with my family! We had a John Deere party complete with a tractor cake. Garrett loved every minute of it. Thanks everyone for helping us celebrate! Garrett loved all his gifts. They'll keep him busy inside through the long winter months. This is his cake that is suppose to be a field of grain.
Grandma Brenda found the cutest John Deere fabric and had a blanket made for Garrett complete with two "tags" on each corner. I'll add a picture of the whole blanket, it's amazing.
Garrett opening his present from Aunt Katie and Aunt Kelsey. Two four wheelers.
We live in farm country and love John Deere.
Garrett attempting to blow out his candles.

Garrett could barely make it through the singing. As soon as we cute him a piece he tore the tractor off and licked it clean and was driving it on the table.Grant helping Garrett show how old he is.

Tractor Boy!

I was finally able to do a birthday photo shoot! Isn't Garrett just the cutest little tractor boy ever. He loves tractors so much and enjoys riding with Gran, Grandad, Grant, Parley, Tav, Tate, Alesa, Billy. Pretty much anyone who will take him. He already knows that a "rake push gether" the hay. (Thanks Aunt Alesa)
Can you tell how much he loves tractors! Thanks Grandma Brenda for the cute tractor shirt!
Here's the final outcome.
